QUILT SET MEETING SATURDAY 17 JULY

Today the ladies were going to have a go at making a small table runner, doing  the applique my way!! [I guess other folk do it this way too, but not to worry] some of the other ladies were still working away at their Baby Jane Quilts. I took my machine along to this meeting as for the past two meetings I have not been needed and had been bored, so this time I was prepared!!!!
So here are the pictures of the busy ladies, we were way down on our attendance, but they still managed to produce some amazing work, here you can see the beginnings of the first border going on, speedy lady here...
It was Janice's birthday today too, Happy Birthday Janice,
That is a nice smile for the camera...
Pat [left] and Suzanne [right] busy stitching away...
Careful with that rotary cutter...
Look Jean, they go this way, let's lay it all out...
Betty, totally engrossed she didn't know I had taken a picture!
One of our new ladies for the day on the right - meet Barbara...
Gotcha...
Bridget head down stitching madly...
That's right Jean, you have got it now...
Time for the thread saver Di...
TEA UP

This is Sylvia's Baby Jane Quilt ready for it's Borders, Gorgeous!
Fabulous Batik runner made by Susan [new] see below for story...
We also held our BLOCK LOTTO again, they had to make a block using Pink and WHite this time, their choice of block pattern, just look at the variety we got, aren't they great? Can you pick the winner?
It was this one....
and it was made by......
REBECCA.
I am just so proud of the way her mum is teaching her, they do not need me...
Well done both of you and well done Rebecca for winning.
It was really funny because Susanne, Bridget and Annette had made an extra block to give to Rebecca in case she didn't win - again - she has entered every single Block Lotto, but you see, perseverance pays off.

SHOWTIME
Not many Quilts to see, but the Quality is amazing...
Fabrics donated to Annette for a Soldier Quilt,
we shall raffle it off over two months to raise as much as possible for the H4H Charity, well done Annette...
This is one of Annette's UFO's she brought it along to try to get some motivation to finish it...
[don't you just love the legs it has!]
We did this hanging a while back, Annette has just finished hers...
other of Annette's - Tumblers - she fancied trying the pattern out...
This is one of the BLOCK LOTTO prize winner's Quilt she made with her winning blocks,
Dee it is fabulous, well done...
One of my UFO's, I have told everybody this is to be for my friend Di when it is finished, it is the 'T' Block with Tulips, her surname begins with T so I guess she best have it...
A truly wonderful Quilt by Bridget, who has only been coming for a year, completely new to
patchwork last year, Bridget is amazing, she makes wonderful Quilts, all with special meanings.
This is in fact the SECOND one Bridget has made using this pattern, sadly she has already given the other one away before we could see it. Bridget is a BORN QUILTER.
I have the honour of showing you this Quilt, it was it's first public outing at my group, it is of course
'The Singing Garden Quilt' from Popular Patchwork Magazine, designed by another friend - Barbara -
version has been made by Susan, who came to my group for the day Saturday. Now I know Susan from the Web only!!! It is always a risk ! meeting folk off the Web as you know - or should!
BUT
I am pleased to tell you Susan is just lovely, [very tall] extremely talented you can see,
and obviously very generous to let me share this wonderful Quilt with you.
I loved it, it is quilted all over, just my type of Quilt so much Susan for sharing this beauty with my group.
Here is the lady herself - unfortunately with me [hee hee]
see, a whole head taller than me...
Susan managed to get TWO runners made at the meeting, then went first to Coventry to visit her Sister, then when she got home, she finished them both. WHEW! I believe this one is for her mum, Susan said it is too busy for her, I agree but the fabrics are gorgeous anyway, and her mum will love it...
s the batik fabric one - finished and turned into a Hanging for her hall. What a good idea.
Just so you can see I did do something - here is the beginning of a bag I am making to give away on a group I am in, I decided to do feather quilting all over it, I love doing freeform feathers...
when I started to quilt it I discovered the backing I had put on was not sliding freely on the machine bed, so I cut it off and just quilted with the top and the wadding, much better, give it a go, it makes life a whole lot easier this way, it is after all going to be lined.
Last but definitely not least, just look at the wonderful array of fabrics
COBBLESTONE CABIN
brought for us to see and purchase, which we did...
more of that on another post...
Don't forget to read the School Post below too.

So much lovely work going on here! Looks as if you all have a wonderful day getting together to create! Also read your profile and the movie you remembered is "Love with a Proper Stranger", with Steve McQueen and Natalie Wood, also favorites of mine.
