SKY 2/11

One evening recently, I looked out the back garden about 9ish and the sky was amazing,
I had to get my camera, hahahaha...
I love those wispy clouds and the colours...
Look - a feather...
Brilliant isn't it...
This is for real, NOT me playing on the computer...
then it went...
Not sure what I can see in this formation...
Nature is amazing

PICNIC IN THE PARK

We went to Brixworth Country Park for a Picnic
beautiful day for it -
This was the first thing I saw, a great design for a Quilt I thought!!
These chairs! are scattered throughout the park, there are benches too,
they are just amazing, I love them...
He looks a bit grumpy!
Annette, what are you doing?
Rebecca on what we call the Throne of the Park - a fantastic chair...
Hmm - Spot the difference...
This always gives me the creeps this plant - Old Mans Beard -
I was told [when I was small] the white part was all the shavings from mens beards -
it has always freaked me out ever since
That path in the distance leads to a hide...
Come on you two, catch up with me...
Rebecca being a Human clock on the Sundial - it worked too!
Annette!

Views across the park to the water - which is the local Reservoir in fact - Pitsford

A lovely few hours spent in the countryside, it was hot and walking across those grassy bits did me no good whatsoever, I have been bitten to death, my poor feet and legs, I am trying not to scratch, Ouch!

Poor Annette had to go to work when we got home, we three spent the time in the garden, then it was time for Rebecca to go home with her mum, they arrived this morning by bike, so they got home fairly quick after a long tiring day in the heat!!

Rebecca's new addition to her soft toy collection -
meet HUMBUG the Tiger
Oh and guess who forgot to collect bits for my sunprinting!!!!
DOH

YESSSSS LAST JOURNAL DONE

Hmm! Saying a rude word here, because, I was going great guns today, very pleased with myself cos I almost got everything done I should have before the end of this year..... Then we decided to remove the decs, what a time that took, sooooo because of that, by the time I had finished the last Journal Page, it was dark outside and the camera wouldn't take a good picture of it. So I have two little tease pictures here, and all I will say is..

Can you guess what it is yet?

The proper picture I will put up tomorrow, I just wanted you all to know I finished all twelve.

EURGH!

"Look at this"

we all heard hubby/dad/gagee call -

so out we trooped to the back garden, and there, bold as brass,
sitting on a leaf was this ----bug----

WHAT IS IT?

I have since been informed this is a BURNETT MOTH
still don't like it but google it and read about it folks

The picture is none too good I have to say - hubby took it - I have tried to make it clearer to no avail, but I am sure you can see the ugly chuffer. If it's still about tomorrow, and I do hope NOT, I will try to get a better picture of it myself. If you want something doing..........

THUNDER

Oh much much better weather wise for me today folks...

At this time........................... it was this temperature

the sky went from this...................................to this

It thundered and chucked down with rain, I was on the phone to my friend Di and it made me jump out of my skin, I took the phone into the sun room for her to hear how loud the rain was, she nipped out and got her washing in as it was on its way to her..quite handy having your own weather person in town!!! I tried to be brave - I do not like storms - I went into my sewing room -BOOM THUNDER- and put the binding on my second Soldier Quilt. Once I had it stitched on, I flipped it over to catch it down and realised, ho hum, I had for the first time in my quilting life, put it on in the wrong place! Grrrr! So I sat and unpicked it and then this afternoon whilst it was on/off raining, I restitched it on again, in the right place this time, so that is now done and dusted ready for its label. Now I do something for myself before the next Soldier Quilt.
I made a couple of the Friday Block Party Blocks this evening, they need pressing before I show you, they look a little sad just now.

I also put a few finishing touches to Reb's outfit for her school Victorian day outfit. I used an old skirt - newish really but I don't wear it anymore - for the skirt obviously!! One of Annette's old white Hotel uniform blouses, a plain apron I had which I sewed a frill round and put two cutesy pockets on. Made a Mob cap out of some old cream/white? sheeting, added the lace and voila = one Victorian Outfit which hasn't cost a penny. As she will only wear it for the one day we didn't want the expense of buying or hiring, when I knew I would be able to make something. She is very pleased with it anyway, they popped round after school for a fitting, I have to take the skirt up 2", it will be down to her feet still, so that's OK. She looked really nice in it, I will get a photo next time she tries it on. Annette was absolutely drenched, she got caught in the rain and it dripped off the back of her jacket all down her legs....yukky....absolutely drenched she was.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are the pictures I should have put on the other evening, these are the two sun printing pictures I did. First effort, using the proper paints this time. I am really pleased with these, I shall use one of them for the journal page, the other I shall keep for future use on something.
Annette and Reb brought me up loads of wonderful leaves and things for future sun painting, the leaves are in the pages of the old telephone book as I type, pressing nice and flat and possibly drying a little too. Other stuff they brought were, bendy rollers, lots of differnt pasta shapes and some other bits that I know not what they are....?....sorry.
FABRIC FABRIC FABRIC
PHEW it hit 100 degrees again today so what did I do?
IRONING
I kid you not, but it was mostly fabric, so that's OK by me.
These are the yummies I got from Bramble Patch the other day by mail...
Fruit anyone?
Super shells and plains...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

these I got from EBay for my Sylvia's Quilt--if ever I get the book!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOW
this is the first block I have made for the Friday Block Party group I am in,
a slight detour here,
on the Popular Patchwork Forum I am in,
Peter, one of the ladies husbands - smashing chap -
has very kindly done or is doing I should say,
a series for us in photographing fabric and quilts...
the first lesson was about colour,
so I played with my camera on this block...
this is the original block...
and again, but a little lighter...
black and white...
sepia...
red filter...
green filter...
blue filter...
negative filter... I think!!
Isn't it amazing the difference you get,
thank you Peter, I can see this is going to be fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So as I said, I joined THE BLOCK PARTY,
and decided NOT to buy any fabric for it - think I have enough -
so I pulled open my scrap drawer and took most of it to the ironing board,
I pressed every piece, in that heat!!!!!!
Looks good huh!

But look now, I broke it all down for you to see what is in the pile....
cos I'm so nice!!!

3 wide pieces long lengths - could be handy...

I classed these as purple family...

cream...

yellow, orange browns...

oops missed a purple

played with the filter - why not...

greens...

played with the green filter...

reds and pinks...

guess what...

stacks of blues...

some do overlap so there aren't that many, are there?

smaller pieces, some very small...

and more smaller pieces, may come in handy for Postcards...

more of the same...

these are narrow pieces BUT the full width of the fabric, very handy...

So there you have it, my fabrics for the BLOCK PARTY QUILT

Click on the link at the side if you wish to join.

Lovely group VERY FRIENDLY.
