REBECCA, DOC MARTEN's and THE MUSEUM AND COMPLETED THINGS BY ME

OK,  I know I have put a few of these on here before,  BUT I had to show them again, because the local Boot and Shoe Museum in the centre of Town decided to have ALL the boots and displays the children had made. These are better photo's than the previous lot I took. Rebecca was thrilled her Doc Marten Boot she made was on display.  So here we are Doc Marten display from Boothville Primary School Children.

Reb with her yellow Doc Marten boot...

That's the one Nana...

They look great don't they...

This is The Wizard of Oz and Dorothy's Red Shoes -
Rebecca pointed out to the Museum they had put the leaves round the WRONG display..
Go girl...

The Giant's Boot from Jack and the Beanstalk...

The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe..
Look at the size of it compared to Reb, at school this had all dolls over it as all the children...

These Boots are made for walking....

Cinderella of course...

Jack and The Beanstalk, minus the leaves cos they put them round the Wizard of Oz,
also the Boot should be here...

Close up of Reb's Boot to finish.

Well done Reb and ALL the children at the School, fantastic Boots and Displays.

*******************************

Following now are things I have completed recently, taken me a while, but I am slowly catching up with things. This first item is the Journal page for JULY, I am doing these Journal pages from the Popular Patchwork Magazine, they set a  the task of what to do, this was SunPrinting, I have chosen to use Windows as my continuing theme throughout the year, this is the back...

this is the front, hopefully you will see it is a view of the hot,
searing desert, through large picture windows...

Now this has taken a whole year to do for some reason,
I just kept getting waylaid by other things...
These are strips of Batik fabrics again from Popular Patchwork Forum,
we swapped strips and then had to make something with them...

Finally, this is what I made...

this is the back...

and this is the all important label...

Whew!
Again from the PP Forum, we are doing a Friendship Block swap,
this is going to go to Alison who requested Baskets...

Yep, more from PP Forum, this time the Postcard Swap,
some folk have trouble keeping up or sometimes they drop out,
so Katy and myself are making up the missing cards for others so they will
have a complete set, shame to miss out don't you think!
This is UNDER THE SEA for..................

Katy made this one for me as I was missing my
Under The Sea Card,
isn't it great, thank you Katy.

Well, that's all for now, it is my Group's day tomorrow, so I have been a little busy getting ready for that today. Tomorrow we will, I hope, be doing a kind of Quilting Bee!! Hmmmm!! I wonder what they will make of my new aid! I now have a walking stick. On Tuesday as I got out of bed I managed to do something to my left knee. I just cannot describe the pain to you, I have had it before but not as bad as this. It is only just beginning to feel right. I was unable to walk properly so hubby went out and bought me the stick which helped enormously. I hope I wont have to use it permanently, I can just imagine the remarks!! Reb is itching to have a go with it as a golf club!!!!

FIVE LOTS - PART FIVE - GIFTS COMING IN AND GOING OUT

Here I am then at part 5, I do hope you have read the others...
Here are things I have received from lovely lovely people - out of the blue...
First from my third daughter - aha surprise -
Little Di, she is my daughter Suzanne's friend, but calls me mum,
I have got ROBBIE his latest CD WOW Thanks Little Di
xxxxxxxxx

SO you can see it better...
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
It is great, go buy it...

Then from Marian, off the PP Forum, we, that is, Marian, Annette and myself, are doing swaps and stuff between us and Marian has come up with an idea - she has sent a package to us... here it is;

and inside, was this wonderful fabric. We have got to make something - whatever we wish to make -with it
She is interested to see the different things made with just one piece of fabric, we got a yard each, Rebecca, got a piece of Bratz fabric... here is the fabric... I love it Marian, I also have an idea............

Here are some strips of all sorts of fabrics, I have been cutting for my friend Tonya, she is making a quilt with 1" strips - crazy girl - so I said I would cut some for her, I have a way to go as yet, thought they looked pretty though like this.... that is 1/2" finished strips folks!!!!!!!

Now this needs an apology from me My lovely Susan in Liverpool sent me this for my birthday and I forgot to put it up here for all to see, it is a piece of fabulous fabric and some threads, along with a beautiful card, many many thanks belatedly Susan, I hope you forgive me. xxxx

This is something different, I have been clearing out patterns I no longer want or will make and offered them up, all I asked was people to send me a fat quarter of cream fabric for said pattern of their choice, I received this from Pamela, with an extra of the pattern of the bag, thank you Pamela very much...

There we are then folks, I hope I have held your attention for a little while and also hope you enjoyed all these piccies, I am off to finish a Quilt now. Bye, do call again.

FIVE LOTS - PART FOUR - POSTCARDS

A few posts back I showed you lots of cards I had ready for finishing, well, wouldn't you know, I found quite a few more that just needed the edges done, so I finished them ALL, and here they are for you to see...
Enjoy -

Playing with Tyvek...

Scraps of fabrics, then a quilted feather on top - all good practice...

Artificial flower, just stitched on and a little bit of quilting -

Angelina Fibres with a quilted feather on top - oh and some punched shapes too -

this one is heading for the bin....

I printed out my threads and then just made some cards with the result...

Fabric scraps left over from a swap on PP -
shame to waste them I thought, so I just attached them to pelmet vylene
and did whatever came into my head...

More Angelina fibres and playing with quilting freehand...

Angelina fibres AND the sheets of foil, there is a little quilting on but it is not clear...

Fetahered feathers...

More scraps, with quilting fun...

this is a pretty leaf cut from fabric then just quilted freely...

layers of wool, nothing special this one...

Angelina again...

Threads off the floor, under net, then a quilted feather on the top -

this one made for the Fireworks theme swap on PP Forum -
it will be going to Alyson...

Thought they looked so pretty piled up like this...

Without my machine, I couldn't have got them done,
thank you Bernina...

Here is the Firework Theme card I have received FROM Alyson on the PP Forum,
thank you Alyson, yours is winging its way to you...

I am really happy I have finished so many cards, they will be going in my box ready for use as and when...
I am now almost finished a Quilt from the PP Forum Batik Swap

*

FIVE LOTS - PART THREE - MESS IS BACK

Oh dear, yep, I have to own up. It is all in a pretty awful mess at the moment.

Piles of stuff waiting to be done...

I am finishing this one off it is the Batik swap from PP

Slowly going down...

Pinboard with goodies on it,

Seen this one before....

Opened the cupboard and - oops!

Oh dear...

oh dear oh dear...

hahaha...

You just have to laugh don't you!

I have encroached space from the hall too now...

back to the cupboard...

Under the table...

lurking...

Good grief they are everywhere...

All will be cleared - one day!!!

FIVE LOTS OF PICCIES -- THIS IS PART ONE - EMBELLISHING DAY!

Here are the samples I made at the ? Embellishing class I went to...

We had to have a piece about 5" square and embellish with bits we had brought with us to see the re-action of it all, this is the front, I don't know where the picture of the back has gone - it is Friday 13th after all!!

and more of the same.....

and again = boring isn't it...

Now it is the afternoon -
we are to make a flower!!!!
I have to say it has got flattened as I slung it in a box...
I didn't bother finishing it either, it should have beads in the middle and a pin on the back,
Pass...

then -
we had to lay strips of stuff, whatever, onto a backing of felt, and felt them down -
I don't know the technical terms yet!! -
We were then to cut them into straight lines, mix them up refelt them together and voila -
As you can see - I cut curved lines, I do like to be different!!
Excited yet?

and Basically that was it.
What did I learn - Nothing
Did I enjoy the Class - You gotta be kidding
Would I go again - Never in a million years

On a good note I am awaiting my book from Myfanwy so I can learn PROPERLY

Actually before I went to this class, I played with the embellisher machine on my own and produced these two pieces of work -
this is supposed to be the sun setting...

I prefer this side personally...

and this was supposed to depict the sea with some dunes...

Not sure which side I prefer of this one

I did these on a piece of sew in Vylene, so they are really soft and pliable as you can see,
here I am screwing it up in my hand, Oh, I also took this to class and dunked one in some
water as one of the girls wondered what happened if the felting got wet - nothing did -
Took a while to dry out though, hahahaha

Hmm, things, as they say, can only get better!!

************
Found the back of the first one....

FIVE LOTS - PART TWO - QUILT SET CHARITY QUILT

Remember these squares?
They are the ones I got my group to make then I was to make a Quilt with them and we raffle it off amongst ourselves for our chosen charity for the year.

The Quilt is made...

THEN -
I found some more blocks, what to do?
I asked my friend Ros, Cushions or Bags, she said Bags,
so here we are two runner up prizes of bags,
made with all the blocks I found over and had given to me late!!

this one I managed to make with the squares back and front...

They asked for green....

A QUIET DAY

Today - being 11 November, I found there was to be a service on the box in the corner for Remembrance Day, at 11o/clock.............11.11.11 Important date and time.

I don't normally watch TV in the day, but was pleased I watched this. It was really interesting, the story of how the Unknown Soldier was told and shown in old movie pictures, I had never seen it, and didn't know the history of it either. Now how can that be, to get to my age and NOT know this. My schools badly slipped up there if you ask me. Also on were snippets from the last three veterans who all sadly passed away this year. My mind can clearly still see Harry Patch, sitting in his wheelchair, saying...

"If anyone tells you they went over the top and weren't scared - he is lying"

and the most memorable sentence ever.....

"War is legalised Murder"

Bless him he will be sorely missed, and bless all our Soldiers, where ever they are, doing what they call, 'their job'  my heart goes out to all the Families of those serving in war-torn places. These are very bad days for us, such dreadful news almost every evening. Sometimes I just cannot bear to watch it.
Take care each and everyone of you when you have to go and do your tour of duty.

WIN SOME - LOSE SOME

I still find it pretty amazing, [even after sending Postcards to people for some time now] to find how many just never reach their destination. This is now happening with some of the blocks from the Popular Patchwork Forum, we are swapping Friendship Blocks, and some are just not getting through. It is such a shame really as the person who makes these blocks, has to now make another, and the one who should be receiving it has even longer to wait.....again.....

This Postcard was made for theme HARVEST swap on PP site -
I wanted to make a card that was 'different', as sadly the first one didn't get to its new owner!!!
This is the cover...

Page  one...

Page two...

Page three ...

Last one...

The card went to Irene B and she likes it, so that is good. I have to say it is better than the first version, so all's well that ends well...

FRIENDSHIP BLOCK SWAP
PP Forum again -
This block I made for Jo, she stipulated Lilac for her choice -
she has received it and again she liked it, I seem to be on a roll -
mind you -
{I sometimes wonder if anyone doesn't really !!! like the block they get -}
that is the devil in me speaking of course....

This next one, was made for Anita -
it hasn't arrived -
it was sent a while back so I guess it has gone walkabout
I shall have to make another for her, not to worry,
but I do have to say I was quite pleased with this one,
Anita had stipulated Birds and Flowers, on either a blue or green background...

Close up of the Peacock

I did enjoy making this - on my Bernina - I tried on the other machine which will
remain nameless and it just wouldn't do it - couldn't hack it - WOMBAT!
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Mine is not the only one that has gone missing, Angela's has too!
???????????????????????????????????

A REMINDER ABOUT MY GIVE AWAY
I shall close this at the
END OF THIS WEEK,
SO
IF you wish to be in it you will have to go back a few posts to find it to enter.

the Royal Mail delivered it BACK to Angela!!!!!!!!!!
we are doing our very own Private Swap of Postcards,
this is the first one - mine to Angela is on here somewhere in a previous post......hahaha
Thank you Angela it is great...

****************************
All these Postcards now below are just me having some fun, I have put them here in their very 'raw' state, when I have finished them, maybe you will spot the difference....I hope so.  I have played with; Angelina fibres, felt, tyvek, feathers, threads, paper punched shapes, different yarns, wools and anything that was basically laying near me at the time - great fun, but Oh me oh my, what a mess I got into. I am sparkling as I walk now, the Angelina fibres sprinkled off the table onto my trousers...hahahaha
Enjoy

Back of one...

and more backs...

oh and another back...

back to the fronts....

these look a bit lacy I think - it is Tyvek....

and now for something completely different.......
there are three bags in this next picture, I am adding them to my recent giveaway as runner up prizes as it were, please don't leave a comment on this post, find the other one and put it on there, many thanks, the runners up who are chosen will be able to choose which one they would like, first come first served, I hope that suits everyone....the give away post is about two or three posts back....

UP TO DATE LINKS FOR MYFANWY

Here are some up to date links for you regarding Myfanwy's book and shop. I had an email from Myfanwy letting me know these better links. Many thanks for that, I am posting the whole email so you can see where Myfanwy is going to be for classes etc etc.

**********************

You may prefer to change the link for the scarves to

http://www.sassalynne.com/ as the one that you have only goes to the picture, also the book link could go to www.etsy.com as I always have a book on there too.

This is really kind of you, and I hope we can meet at a workshop of something at some point. We will be at Cottenham, just north of Cambridge at Textiles in Focus in February and the Festival of Quilts in August if we don't meet up before. I can give you more information nearer the time.

and........................

This might be a better link to the book. The DVD will also be listed here as soon as it is available, or when I have a little more information.

http://www.myfanwyhart.co.uk/shop

There you go folks I hope this helps out.

HAPPY DANCE DAY

As you may or may not know. I went on an Embellisher class recently. Suffice to say it was abysmal. I shall be writing to make my feelings known about this class.

I came home from it and went on the Forum I had joined, told them what had happened, and my oh my. I wish I hadn't gone on the class, cos I got all the info I needed from these lovely ladies. One of the ladies has taken me under her wing and is going to get back to me after setting up an Exhibition she is in charge of, she recommended I buy Myfanwy Hart's book on the Embellisher machine. So, as she knows more than me about the machine, I rang Myfanwy today. What a lovely lady. We had a really lovely chat, and bless her she was apologising for the class. Not her fault at all. I have orderd the book and..... and this is where it is so exciting, I have ordered her brand new DVD, which is not yet out......Wahey, how great is that? She is going to do four DVD's, each one getting slightly harder work than the one before. Suits me, as it means I will learn the Embellisher, properly and at my own pace. How happy am I? After our chat and giving her the order. I went to look at her Blog and Etsy store. Had to send a quick email to her as I saw some wonderful things on there, Scarves, which I can use in the Embellishing and Quilting. So if you own an Embellisher and are not knowing what to do with it, just like me, I would suggest you nip to Myfanwey's site and have a really good read. Then give her a ring.
Her site is.....

If you order the DVD now, you could even get it cheaper than if you leave it til later, say after Christmas, I do love a bargain don't you!  I am now looking forward to recieving the book, so I can read all about the machine, the leaflet you get with the machine when you buy it, is a bit naff to say the least. Just a piece of paper really.  You must visit her Etsy store after her Blog too, look at the beautiful things in there. :-)

Pretty aren't they? and this is the book as well

I am determined to get to grips with the Embellisher.

TUESDAY - LOTS TO READ

Tuesday evening was spent finishing bits and pieces off and playing.
I am very pleased with myself because I managed to finish 3 yes THREE Journal pages
which I am doing on the PP Forum - my theme is Windows, here are the latest three...

APRIL Front

BACK

MAY - Front

BACK

 JUNE - Front

BACK

Aha - now this next piece was going to be the April one but I rejected it,

Not at all happy with the back of it...

SOMETHING DIFFERENT

These are going to wing their way to my friend Tonya,
she makes bags with them - they are empty...

FABRIC POSTCARDS & QTC's
These are all going to be winging their way to various parts of the World -
who will they be for - aha not telling...

this is the QTC

to show you the difference in size I have put the QTC on top of one Postcard...

another QTC...

Whilst sorting out my Postcards the other day, I came across quite a lot which I had stupidly written on the backs - you see I always used to make two of each I made,  then I would write on the back what swap it was for and to whom I had sent the other card. Well, I decided that was a waste of cards, so I pulled all the backs off the ones I had written on, Postcards and QTC's and have redone them with fresh backs, they are all now useable, makes sense really. These are the QTC's I have redone. Just in case you are querying, YES they are MINE all mine,  I would NEVER vandalise a card which had been sent to me. I treasure them all, I have some truly wonderful Postcards and QTC's from people all round the World.

New Backs

These are the fronts

This one too, was renewed, I am just showing you how it works -
you can see I made this one in 2008

OMG
Look what I have done....I have got blooming felt tip on my new table...ARGH!!!

This is my very latest card - it is themed HARVEST -
all I will say it is like a book, Irene hasn't received it yet, so I cant show you the inside...

There we are then, you see I have been busy, finishing and playing with bits and pieces. I will tell you what I have been playing with in another post - that is how I got the felt tip on the table!

---------

Before I go though, I am putting here my GIVE AWAY for my Blogoversary -

FIRST DAY

This was my first day of having Reb whilst her mum goes to work, OK today was part of the Induction she has to attend, but I count it as work. She will be paid for it and guess who will be taking that money off her?
Hmmmmm I best not go there had I?

Talking of going there, this was our busy day today Reb and me...

Go to town and take wage slips into SS Office for her mum...

Call in at Radio Northampton and buy a Pudsey Bear keyring and trolley coin...

Take books back to Library - only to find when I got home I had left one behind... Got some new books out, 2 fiction 3 patchwork hahahaha...

Go to Town Hall and pick up copy of Birth Certificate for her mum...whilst there I showed Rebecca the wonderful room where meetings are held, I shall have to take my camera and get some piks of this room, it is fabulous....

Nip across the road to the Boot and Shoe Museum, finally, ALL the shoes made by Reb's year at school are on display and she wanted to see hers there in situ; it looks really good, we had another mooch round the museum at all the shoes, she loves trying the ones on you are allowed to, ballet shoes, red high heels, boots, you name it, they are there for the children to try on and march round in, great fun...

Reb was hungry so we did a pitstop for a buttered roll for her, it was what she wanted, I had a swiss bun - yum yum...

Had a mooch round the Memorial Gardens when we had finished our snack, then she decided she wanted to see inside All Saints Church, so I took her in and she thought it was lovely. They were practising on the Organ and it was LOUD, made us jump, but if you want to hear an organ played, the best place to hear it is in a Church...lovely...

Onto the market now to buy some ribbon and wool, but wool stall not on there today, tch!

Whipped into the Poundland shop on the way to the bus station, she found some bits in there, pencils and colouring books and a lovely case to keep it all in...Bargain birds, thats us!

Then home on the bus, a quick lunch, then off to Morrisons to meet her mum at 4pm.

Busy busy busy

Wonder what we will do tomorrow?

BLOWING A GASKET BIGTIME

I am from London originally. I had to go to school by bus, I paid for the ticket. Every day.

At the age of 14,  I got a Saturday job, which helped with the payment of things I needed. I have always paid my way.

When I started work proper I paid Tax and National Insurance.  My whole working life I PAID THESE.

So I am entitled to my free bus pass. I WORKED for it as it were.

I was born here in this country. I was taught to be proud to be British or English - whichever you think fits!

Does this still count I wonder?

Yesterday I sat at the SS office waiting for my daughter to finish an interview with them. Hmmmmmmm

When she had her daughter she was unable to work, and so had to go onto Benefits - she hated it, but needs must.
She got herself a job pretty darn quick just as soon as her daughter started school. --A school dinner lady.

The SS got on her back pretty soon to work more hours. Every year she had to go to their office and take all wage receipts etc to show she wasn't cheating the system. Hmmmmmmm

Then they made it every six months.

Then every three months.

All the time on at her to, get more work, get more hours.

So she did. She has secured another job, making the 16 hours they require her to work. They promised [huh] her she would get help with her rates and rent when she got these extra hours.   So today she collected from her new employer, all the forms and information the SS required and went to their offices in town. I sat and waited. Listening.

What a disgrace.
I blew it folks.

My daughter does not deserve such shoddy treatment. It was of course all lies she had been told. She has the extra hours so of course she will be getting extra money ---- it is called wages.

What she WONT be getting is any help with her RENT, she has to pay that in full.

And get this.....she will be awarded the princely sum of 23p towards her RATES.

As I said, I blew it. I just cannot believe that......23p....what an insult.

She will now be working every day, she is keeping the other job, so as to make the hours right for the SS.
What exactly do they want? Blood! If anyone tells me they are only doing their job. I KNOW THAT. I know it is the GOVERNMENT make the rules for them and they have to dish it out and get the flack.

 What gets me is this.......

If I popped over to lets say, India or Bosnia or Serbia or Poland or Africa or just about anywhere in the world basically, and said, I have no money I have nowhere to live, help me please. What would I get?

ZILCH
NADA
NOTHING

Possibly a first class ticket home!  Make that second class.

So.....................
Why is it that the world and its wife comes here to MY/OUR country and gets the damn lot. House with garden, mobile phones, money, furniture, possibly a car, Benefits to live on, a FREE BUS PASS, you name it, they get it. Do not tell me they don't all get it, cos all I will say is,  show me one of them who doesn't.

In this town you see them all roaming around, buying this and that, sitting in coffee shops - which are not cheap places - hour after hour, not looking for work.
I have even heard them telling each other how to cheat the system.

WHEN did they pay their Taxes and National Insurance to get all these things?

WHEN and WHERE is that person who said yes come here and you can have it all?

WHY are we not looking after our own?

I have never been a racist, I have friends of many different races, I have lived with people from many different countries, yes they were lovely people. My girls were brought up to respect others, where ever they came from. As is my Grand daughter now.

I am talking of the people who come her to MY/OUR country and just sponge. Day after day, month after month, year after year, over they come in their droves, playing the system, getting it all, giving NOTHING back.

IT HAS SURELY GOT TO STOP.

We are a small country a comparatively small island, for goodness sake, where are all these people going to go in the future. Why oh why don't they go home to their own countries. WHY are we still letting so many in here. WHY you are asking,  am I ranting?

Because of the way my daughter has been treated,  pure and simple. She has followed the rules and look where it has got her!

Does anyone remember Enoch Powell? I do. Maybe, just maybe,  he was right.

I am of the age where SS meant something really nasty from way back.    Nothing changes!

I look at people where my daughter lives, they are NOT all foreign, to my shame - some are Brits, they are playing the system. It makes me so mad.

I have to go back to these SS people on Friday for my daughter, to take her wages slips, the claws are not out of her yet apparently.  I am going to inform them of these people who are playing the system. I am sick of it. Totally sick of it.

They get everything.
My daughter gets 23p

I have calmed down since coming out of that office, just as well I didn't come on here straight away I can tell you.
You will have to excuse me now I have to print this out and address an envelope to 10 Downing Street.

I know, fat lot of good that will do me, but I just have to do it. I also have to go and apologise to my neighbours at the top of our street, they got the FULL FORCE of my anger when I got back from town.

I will be looking after my Grand daughter whilst her mum is it work - they offer money if she sends her to a Child Minder!!! The mind boggles doesn't it? Would YOU trust one of those these days? No I thought not. She will come to me and be taught as her mum and aunty were of what is right and wrong.

If I have offended you by any of this, put yourself in my position. I am a Mother who is very proud of her girls who both WORK and always have, they have never cheated, stolen, or done anything nasty to anyone. How many of these people coming in can say that!  Think on Britain, think on.

MUDDLED

Why? I hear you ask, am I muddled? Well the clocks go back here one hour today, Saturday, well at 2am Sunday morning, but who gets up at that time to do it? I daresay someone will!!! Muppet.
Hubby changed them all earlier this evening - he always forgets one though - tomorrow we will discover it!!! Anyway I am looking at the clock now and it is saying 11.20 so really it is 12.20 Sunday morning but not at the moment is it? See, I am muddled. Totally confused. The computer clock is saying it is 00.18 Arghhhhh!!

Anyway, as you know I had been looking forward for a while to going to the Embellishing class on Saturday - whenever that was, today or yesterday??!!

Well, just thought I would let you know I have been.

Tell you something I nearly didn't get there. Hubbies car went kerput, had to get Suzanne to take us. Not my week. Our dinner last night [Friday] was off, when I went to dish it up the meat was off, I didn't realise, as all meat smells off to me so I just cook it regardless, and NO it didn't look off! Oh well, then the car, then the class. All good fun here folks. I think I may just hibernate.
