BAGS OF STUFF

Lots of things to show you, my own private Showtime as it were...

I start off with a lovely 'Lets go fly a kite' card from Shellie S
Fabricards swap group, thanks Shellie, love it...

These were made for the 'CIRCLES' swap on Fabricards, BUT;
oops, I have only used one fabric on these so they are not usable,
back to the drawing board...

Close up the blue one, this was on a felt'y sort of wash cloth I bought
from Poundland, very pleased with the result...

Here is the result of the Wonky Stars,
this will be winging it's way to Australia very soon...

Here is a block Annette has made for the BFQ Appeal...

She has made FIVE, so they will go with the quilt from the Macs...

We did a Charm Square swap on the Popular Patchwork Forum,
I received PINK, so decided I would make more Wonky Star
blocks with them, first I cut them all to 4 1/2", they were 5"
Then I managed to make these 5 blocks...

I joined them all together, to make this little Quilt, which will be sent to my
lovely Forum friend Tessa, for her to finish off as a Linus Quilt,
that kind of balances things out, one for Australia and one for us...

After I had trimmed all the 5" squares to the smaller size,
I was left with lots of bits of fabric,
as I hate waste,
I got out my Postcard vylene and pressed all the bits on,
I am actually quite pleased with the results I got, these are now ready
as base's for cards I will make in the future.
Just look how many I managed to prep...

They have given me an idea; this is the waste bin I place all my bits in
and when it is full I take them over to the school...
I can see lots of good bits for prepping cards in there...
No, they will go to the school...

Lots of lovely bags,
the black one I made to go with my outfit I wore to Suzanne's wedding,
I had a green trouser suit with black accessories,
the flower is the same fabric I used for all the favours I made for her guests..
The Log Cabin bag is one I saw in a tiny advert in a magazine many years ago,
I drafted it out and gave it to Suzanne, it has found it's way back to me now though..
The small beaded bag is my first attempt at beading...

Annette made these two for me,
can you tell I love purple,
hopefully
you will click on them to see the beautiful bead trim...

This is a bag the school had made for all the children,
they got them to draw their faces
then it got printed onto the calico,
can you see Rebecca...

Mmm, this beauty is a one off,
yes I know I have already put it on here before,
but feelit is worth another look.
My friend Sheila gave this to me,
it is made of Leather and Suede completely,
it is just gorgeous,
I made a journal page of this bag as I loved itso much,
thank you Sheila...

AHHHH THIS IS BETTER

On the Popular Patchwork Forum, we had a Batik swap way way back.....I have just got round to starting mine, Everyone else has either finished or very nearly finished theirs. Sod's law with me, something else kept cropping up. BUT, today I have made a start. WooHoo....

These 3 pictures are just to show you the difference that a background will make to your fabric. I know which one I am going to use, not saying for now though.

The fabric we received were 12"squares, first I chopped them into strips...

Then, as almost every bloke I know will tell you, I did a really silly thing....
I started to stitch the strips back together again!!!!!!

This is as far as I got this evening. Had to stop, hubby on early start, so had to pack away. Bother!

Today it was so cold, I didn't know how to get my hands warm, I could have cried with the pain in my right hand, due to it being so cold. When Annette came this afternoon I had my gloves on AND my lovely wrist warmers from Maggie. They made it much more comfortable. Unable to sew this afternoon, which put me behind my planned schedule. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!! They say!!!

TODAY

Bit of a funny day today really, didn't seem to get much done at all, had big ideas I would do loads, but, ho hum, couldn't get motivated, until, this evening after my dinner, I went into my sewing room and cut out the side triangles for my Singing Garden version, attached them, and the corners and hey presto, it is now sitting on the chair waiting for a press over with the iron before I put the borders on. This has been all guess work cos I couldn't find the instructions for the two blocks I wanted to do in the magazines, I checked and checked, I do appear to have lost one magazine somewhere along the line, but I know that wasn't one of the blocks.

The new POPULAR PATCHWORK magazine came today, and I realise the block I wanted is to be in February's magazine! Hey ho. Good job I guessed it. Mine is probably totally different to Babs Original plan, as will the rest of my quilt be I have no doubt. Hubby likes it, he said, "and where is that going?" Hopefully on our wall after Crimbo. I will need to buy some backing for it as I know I don't have enough white fabric to do it with. Blow! I thought this was going to be all from my stash. No worries, EBay here I come!!!!!

I shall cut out the borders tomorrow and hopefully get them on, then do the small amount of applique that it needs, then, onto the quilting. Yippee!

Today, as I say was a bit strange, but also lovely as I had Rebecca here whilst her mum and Aunt went over to Bramble Patch at Weedon. Suz wanted a pattern, but when they got there Annette realised she had the one Suz wanted, money saved!! Annette bought some lovely fabrics over there, she also got the batiks I wanted for my Batik swap Quilt at PP.

This one I don't like....WHY?

I don't like this one because...see that picture; it looks gorgeous doesn't it! But when you get it, it is actually in a striped arrangement, which didn't do a thing for me, I thought it was an all-over design, you know mish-mash. So that one will not be on my quilt. I love the blue one above though with the gold flecky bits on it. Must get more of that one.

Oh and just for a laugh. Here is a picture of the dough that came out of the new Bread Maker Annette had for her birthday... yuk or what! Apparently it just kept on rising and rising until it hit the lid and started to 'pop'. Rebecca ran to her room, but her mum, brave soul!!! lifted the lid and got this out...

Do you, like me, remember the film...Quatermass and the Pit....I say no more.

Last bit, I did this for a bit of fun, I quite like it.
