THANK YOU EVERYONE

It was a real treat for me to receive so many messages saying you are all still about, just that sometimes Life gets in the way and you are unable to Blog or even leave messages. Anyone with problems of leaving a message on here, do please let me know what it is and I shall try to sort it out for you. I love to see the comments you see.

I have been very busy finishing off some UFOs. I have completed eight of them. Yes 8. I did all the labels today, what a chore that is, I normally whack them on as I am doing the binding, but for some reason I forgot all 8 of them this time so...well I cheated of course, I sewed what I could by machine then hand stitched the rest of the label down. If there is a way to cheat !!!! I will surely find it folks. hahahaha

Anyway, I shall take piccies of them all tomorrow and then tomorrow night I shall put them on here for you all to see. Also I will be putting on a Give Away I have had planned for some time now, I have been waiting for a certain number Post to come up and tomorrow, I do believe I shall hit it. Woo Hoo. Can you guess what it will be? The number I mean not the Give Away.

It is going to be something I have never done before so I am going to request a bit of help with it from the person who wins. All will be revealed tomorrow. [later today actually] Oh yes, I ought to say there will be TWO Give Aways, one for here in GB and one for the Rest of the World. You will understand why when I do it tomorrow. Not long now.

BUSY BUSY BUSY

This is a UFO that has been hanging around what seems like for ever on a board in my sewing room. I am determined it will be finished THIS MONTH. I am working hard at it. It is actually not very big but has intense quiliting on it as you can see. I am, I am pleased to say--nearly done--Yippee. These pictures are actuall of the back, I kind of like the back you see.

Look at this, I am so excited about this. My friend Ros sent me some bulbs and there was an Amaryllis bulb too, which I planted in a pot and look. It is going to have a second lot of flowers, the first four flowers are, sadly, beginning to fade, but you can clearly see the second shoot with the flowers waiting to burst open. Fabulous, thank you Ros, I watch it daily cos they burst open very quickly. A picture will be taken I can assure you just as soon as it opens in all its glory.

I have heard from my friend Ros, that the message I put up regarding a SCAM, may have contained a virus for you  folk out there. I have therefore deleted it. I know what it is like to have a virus get on your computer and I would not like to be responsible for passing any on.

Just be aware of any dodgy emails folks that is all I can say.  Crime Stoppers were involved in that message so I thought it was pretty safe.

Just goes to show....you can't trust anyone these days.

PAINTS AND DYES AND A HEATGUN

BOOK CLASS
I had some fun painting and using dyes again today. I started my course I am doing with Myfanwy, which is to make Little Books, the link is here,   http://www.myfanwyhart.co.uk/online-workshops

you have until the end of the week to sign up, I should if I were you, it is great fun. Without giving too much away, we had to paint some paper, I didn't want to go outside -cos of the stink from next door- but the sun was out and a fabulous day. So, I set myself up in the Sunroom, almost outside so to speak. Doesn't this look good? I put a little table on the top of the big table and put my instructions on it, so I didn't have to keep bending and it wouldn't get messed up with the paints and dyes. Clever eh! You can see I remembered the rubber gloves this time too!

Here are the papers I 'dyed' they are very wet I can tell you, I am not allowed to do anything to them until tomorrow, I just hope they will seperate, if not I will have to start all over again darn it...

PAINTING LACE

After doing those papers I was really in the mood to do more painting !!!! So I went and chopped up a batch of lace and found my fabric paints, then set to. No rhyme or reason to the colours, I just slapped it on. I hope it all dries properly and doesn't leave a sticky 'goo'. I have plans for these pieces of lace, well some of them I do. The rest will be there if ever I need it, as and when so to speak...

There are two lots of pictures cos I couldn't fit it all onto one without being so far away from the lace, there are pieces of fabric here as well as I placed the lace on a piece of fabric then painted it, so I end up with a piece of prettily painted fabric as a bonus...

POSTCARDS
These Postcards are my second attempt at using the Heatgun. I am very pleased with these, the top one has four of those skeleton leaves under a piece of voile, they are actually all a different colour although it doesn't show much now, I quilted the shell pattern round the outside of them, then zapped just the leaves with the Heatgun, luckily it stayed where I wanted it, amazing!!! I decided to sew a clump of pretty elongated beads to the base of the leaves as I felt it looked a bit odd in that area...

The one underneath this was me having a bit of fun, I just free machine stitched some circle [ish] shapes all over a postcard base made up of several layers of voiles and fabrics, to emphasise the shapes I then free machined zigzags in the spaces round the circles. Then it was zapped, just the circles again. Getting good at aiming the thing. I was going to leave it at that, but as I was doing the beading for the one above, I thought, oh heck, let's put some beads on this one as well, so I tipped a mix of red beads out and just stitched then in the circles as I picked them up, I wasn't picky about the beads, just whatever I picked up was stitched in the circle. I like this one very much, I think I will try other shapes, same principle...

The following two have to be my favourites so far. Both were done as before, layers of fabric and voiles, and I think there is even some lace under one of them, scraps of anything basically, voile on the top of the lot then free machining all over, no design just willy-nilly stitching because I knew I would zap them. Well, after zapping them I liked them a lot, but again, as I had my beads out, I thought, in for a penny and all that. The top one is beaded, the bottom one is done with sequins and beads. Glutton for punishment. But I hope you agree with me they are worth it. Nothing like blowing your own trumpet is there? haha

I am so pleased with my purchase of the Heatgun. Who would have thought it?

This evening I finished 9+ Postcards, I was definitely on a roll today folks, got the camera out to take pictures and wouldn't you know. Battery flat. Ho hum. Tomorrow you will see those.

MORE FROM SATURDAY - BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TOO

I ran out of time, was tired, went to bed knowing I hadn't finished loading pictures on here, never mind they are here now for you. Following are things that were actually given to me on Saturday, for me to keep, I am just so lucky as you will see.

These wonderful wools from Janice, I was cheeky and asked her for her offcuts, you know, the bits you cut off once you have sewn all the ends in from your knitting, but just look at the treasures she gave me, I have used some of them already, they embellish a dream on my E machine, thanks Janice...

Di has been clearing out her sewing room, she has amassed magazines like me and now feels it is time for them to move on as it were, she knows I like this particular magazine so kept it back for me, cheers Di, it is great...

Di also gave me this fabulous book, she knows I am 'into' this  type of thing, a great gift...

So what did I buy? I had Lisa as our stall holder at the group this time, [more about her later] she and Neil brought a wonderful array of fabrics and threads for us to purchase. Very difficult to choose as I wanted it ALL. I finally settled for the following fabrics - these are for my Dear Jane Baby quilt...

and these are for..who knows what they are for, I don't as yet, I just knew I had to have them.

the following two packs of Baby fabrics are what Lisa has asked me to make something with for her, as a kind of advert for the fabrics, I have almost finished the Cat Quilt for her with the fabrics I had before - go back a few posts to see the fabrics - I have an idea for these from Lisa, so shouldn't take me too long to make what she wants...

Now you may remember this Quilt I designed and made for Lisa,

I thought you may like to see all the designs I came up with for this one Quilt...

It is amazing how many designs you can get from a simple Four Patch block...

Just a quarter turn and 'bam' another pattern emerges...

I quite liked this one...

you will see the one below it is the one I went with, but - that I quarter turned it...

so there you have it folks, one design but SEVEN layouts to choose from -

Oh me oh my - a lesson to be learned here... I am in several swaps in a group I belong to - one of them is for a Bookmark... You will see further on some of the ones I have received already, but I wanted you to see this - the envelope on of them came in had been damaged in the postal system and ripped quite badly - luckily no damage had been done to the Bookmark and the beautiful bead was still attached, but it might have been disastrous, SO if you are sending anything through the post with beads on, please please please make sure it is well protected, bubble wrap, tissue, anything would do. Better safe than sorry...

I belong to another group on the Web, and a Table Runner competition was set up, I actually found that to be very handy as I had promised a kind of runner to a friend of mine [?] so thought to myself 'I could kill two birds with one stone' so to speak here. Was that cheating do you think? Anyway, I started the runner, then had a mad frenzy of tidying my sewing room - as you do - and in the process I managed to lose the components for it amongst everything! Sod's law strikes again!  As you can see I did find it and had but one day to get it all done, photographed and sent off for the competition. I managed it as I haven't actually done any Quilting on it so to speak, I don't think it needs it somehow. Now, I am not expecting to win the competition as there are others in there far superior to mine, we get to vote, that is very difficult I can tell you, as some of them are fabulous. There is one I covet. Anyway, this is why I am putting my finished one on here for you to see. You can't vote, you don't belong to the group, or do you!!!! Anyway, I may have broken a rule by doing this, but, hey! Apologies to Janice if I have. Now I have to tell you this is very BLACK, it doesn't look it on the pictures, the black has a definite tinge of 'green' to it for some reason. Hubby took loads of piks for me but no matter what I did they still look green. You wil have to trust me it is Black and Red, oh yeah with a bit of green on it. First picture is the complete thing...

and look, you see what I mean, the back is the same fabric as the front, but isn't it green!!!!!

This is some black felt, black again but this does look black now doesn't it? This is for me to use on my Embellishing machine, I noticed Myfanwy used a lot of black for her samples, so I went ordered this off EBay. Actually, I bought quite a lot of stuff up at Hobbycraft on Monday, oops. Not a bit of fabric though, it was all stuff for the Embellisher machine. Strange that!!!!
