WAY WAY BACK

Last year in fact, August I believe. I entered the Popular Patchwork Magazine Forum Ice Cream Fabric Strip Swap.  Try saying that when you have had a few!!!!

These are the strips I received, scrummy aren't they...

We could make what we liked, once I saw all the fabrics together, I just knew it had to be a wall quilt for our Sunroom - following are the 6 blocks I made, I put the names of some of the people who were in the swap plus the names of the Ice Cream they gave their fabric - have to say a HUGE thank you to Kate in Canada for her really l-o-n-g name she gave hers, see if you can spot it - it just fitted in the space...

not yet...

not here either...

nor here...

keep looking...

here we go -
Caramel Chocolate Fudge Crackle
good one Kate...

I decided I would put Ice Creams on the top to hang it by -
just for fun... oh and those narrow bits are compliments of Ros, she sent me all her scraps
left over from Her Ice Cream Swap Quilt...Cheers Ros, I used them all...

Altogether now........

Yep, definitely, Give it to me....

Put it all together and this is the result...

NOW I will confess to something....
I was free quilting this the other night, when hubby called 'Dinners ready'
So off I went had dinner, washed up, put stuff away, had a cot, then went back to my sewing,
switched on the machine and carried on doing the free machining and finished the quilt in record time.
HAVE YOU SPOTTED MY ERROR?
I didn't re-check the tension after switching the machine off. It always puts itself back to normal when you switch off. If you could see the back of this quilt you would see it is horrendous. I would normally unpick and re-do. But I had FINISHED the damn thing, so it is staying on the back for all to see and know that
I DO MAKE MISTAKES.
Wana see a picture of it? Tomorrow I will put it here.

Moving on...
I am also doing the Psalm Sampler on the PP Forum,
compliments of Ros and Tessa,
loads of mistakes on this, heyho, Hubby says I am Queen of the 'cock ups' at the moment.
He will be out of hospital next week!

Here are some piks of what I have done so far...

This is the Tree Everlasting -
if you look closely you will see I had to patch it - TWICE -
cos I ended up with two holes where there shouldn't have been any!!!
Don't ask me what I did, I'm blaming hubby....

these next four blocks go round this tree using big triangles as fillers...

these blocks are actually all the same size - honest...

then you have to make what seems like 50 trillion half square triangle blocks,
these, they very kindly let you make OVERSIZE so you can have the  pleasure -
!!!!!
- of trimming them all down to the correct size...
Why do they do that? Drives me nuts I tell you...

look at the mess it made of my floor...

anyway, they are all done and made into the Broken Dishes Blocks
ready for a border...

I am using ONE of these layouts not all of them, I wonder if you can tell which one I chose??

Thats as far as I have got and as far as I am going on here too at the moment cos Blogger is driving me crazy, it keeps saving after almost each word and is taking forever and a day to get this on the page.
So I'm gone for today folks.

I agree with the rest...the ice cream quilt is a winner hands down!
Also, I love the color combo you used for the everlasting tree....I wish I could do blocks....I can't sew straight lines...I'm more of a free style gal...this way any mistakes you really don't notice...lol!

That's a scrumptious ice cream quilt, even if the back is less than perfect. I particularly like that colorful paisley print.
