STILL STRIPPING

OK. Continuing on from where I left off last night. I had to stop as I remembered I had to go and ask Mary for permission first, before I put up the rest of the pictures. Mary has graciously given her permission, many thanks for that Mary. You really MUST go to her site and view how this SHOULD be made perfectly, her link is here for you. [it is the Spiderweb Quilt by the way]

Here then, are the pictures I took whilst sewing these strips, some of the pictures may be a bit wonky, as it is difficult taking pictures with your foot hard down on the machine pedal at the same time....hahaha...

Some of the strips, brought forward to remind you,

Cut into triangles...

pairing up...

joining...

chain style...

lots of them...

watch the ends...

I love the way they fall into neat pleats behind the machine...

looks like a work of art all by itself...

all joined, ready to be pressed...

all pressed...

ears lopped off; OUCH! ...

hmm, first quarter square done...

and another...

and here is my first full block...

So there you are, my attempt at the Spiderweb Quilt as seen here...

you really must go and see the real beauty on Mary's pages,
along with all her other work of course.
Mary is one very clever and extremely kind person as you are about to find out.

I still have a lot more to do to this of course so I had best get cracking.

Jan, That's stunning! I'd like to have a go at that (remember all those log cabin strips I said I had - 3 box-fulls). Ros

Hiya Leah,
I have this huge box of strips from when I went mad and cut all my fat quarters into strips of various sizes. I made loads of quilts from the Quiltville site, but Mary also has some beauties on her's, so this had to be done.

Hi Ros,
Go for it, it is so quick to do as you already have the strips cut, just remember to do light dark, then dark light, not as I did first, and just slung any old thing, didn't really work out. Hahahaha that's me jump in feet first....

Hi Phyllis,it is all thanks to Mary really, proper instructions are on her site, you have to get them to be able to make this, these are just piks of me stitching away like a mad thing last night. It was, sew, take pik, press, sew, take pik, press then, I nearly pressed my camera. Whoa girl, I was on a roll got all these done last night. Will press and join them when I have the sashing sorted.

Thanks girls for your comments, always a pleasure to read them. Jan :-)
